Hello Kitty is Not a Cat!

"Hello Kitty is not a cat. She’s a cartoon character. She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat.", as said by Christine Yano, a curator of an upcoming exhibit on Hello Kitty at the Japanese American National Museum, in an interview.

In an interview of Los Angeles Times, Yano says that Sanrio considers the said cartoon icon as human girl and not a cat.

As per Sanrio's confirmation, on Hello Kitty's official biography appears:

As tall as five apples, and as heavy as three, Hello Kitty is a bright little girl with a heart of gold. She loves to bake cookies and play the piano, and dreams of one day becoming a pianist or maybe even a poet. She has a gift for music and English, and a soft spot for Mama’s apple pie. Hello Kitty and her twin sister Mimmy are the best of friends.

The Japanese icon, that started on year 1974, has been a part of the global culture up until now. With the revelation, everyone is reacting on different social networking sites. Everyone is still asking and wondering how come a girl can have whiskers and a cat nose be a human girl. Still Sanrio insists that Hello Kitty is in fact a girl and not "cat".

One of the coolest reaction you can get is the one tweeted by Peanuts regarding their own icon "Snoopy"

So what do you think? Would you buy this information that Kitty is not a cat?
